Lightroom mobile - Dilemma

23 Sep 2014

RAW or RAW and JPEG

Dilemma of the day.......I am currently trying out Lightroom mobile on my ipad. I want to upload my photos straight to my ipad then sync with my Lightroom desktop later. I currently shoot only in raw and this has suited me fine. For now lightroom mobile will only work on raw previews transferred from Lightroom desktop and jpegs. Is it now worth me shooting in raw and jpegs then having the option to upload jpegs on my iPad?

There are a  few things making me feel uncomfortable about shooting in raw and jpeg in order to upload a few jpegs to the iPad:

Most of my files will still be uploaded to Lightroom desktop, as there is no option in Lightroom to ignore the JPEGS I will now have to either leave the JPEGS on the hard drive where they will take up space or delete my JPEGs from Lightroom after import.

I currently shoot in raw with black & white preview to help my composition. If I do this in raw and JPEG I will limit my choice of JPEG to uploads to black and white.

Oh well, I guess its about giving it a go and seeing whether it’s worth it.  Perhaps  something will come to mind on the way to the office.
