Adobe has listened, and has restored the previous import interface, with its latest Lightroom update.
Here’s what happened, Adobe released Lightroom CC 2015.2.1 which featured a redesigned Import screen that
aimed to make things easier for new Lightroom users. However existing Lightroom users didn’t appreciate having their familiar interface simplified and features removed that they were used to. What made matters worse was the new experience was slower and prone to crashing.
So Adobe admitted they made a mistake and have now brought back the original interface. The one thing that Adobe do need to address is their import speed, which seems to slow down with each update, particularly if, as I have always recommended, you convert your images.
At least Adobe admitted their mistake and will perhaps now listen to existing users and produce a faster experience.
Performance over style is what is needed now.
